Conditions at start of a hill race can be very different from conditions on the peaks therefore in accordance with SHR guidlines, runners must carry full body cover

Full body cover?   Full body cover for means waterproof jacket and trousers, a hat and gloves. During the summer months organisers MAY allow at their discretion windproof cover butto avoid disappointment, always bring your full waterproof kit to every hill races. Please don't go by the weather forecast, always check with the race organiser.

Any other mandatory kit?   Yes, the runner must carry a map, a compass and whistle. (and know how to use them)

Can I swap my whistle for a mobile phone?  Absolutely not. Whilst it's good practice to carry a mobile phone, we cannot guarantee reception in the Ochil Hills. A whistle must be carried to attract attention.

Race etiquette:  We do our best to make sure all runners are accounted for during a race. A head count is taken at the start, and numbers are checked at the end but that in itself is not good enough. Please assist course marshals by shouting out your race number as you pass each checkpoint.

Drop outs.  If for any reason you drop out of the race, you must inform a race marshal. Give them your race number.

Anything else I should know?  The organiser can only go so far to ensure your safety, ultimately runners are responsible for their own safety. Please read and familiarise yourself with SHR safety guidlines.
